LINDY Surface Pattress Box Single Depth 32mm

Why is it impossible to buy a simple surface backbox of reasonable quality? I needed one to replace a broken one at the back of a narrow kitchen cupboard, which was used for the power supply for the control unit for our Aga cooker. Whoever fitted it had ham-fistedly overtightened the front plate, and both sides had broken so the socket was hanging off. I bought one on Amazon, and after spending a very difficult half an hour fitting it because access is so awkward, I found that the brass inserts that the front screw in to were so badly machined that the screws just pulled out again. So I then bought this one. It's equally terrible quality. I imagine a conversation between the people who design these things and the committee in charge of manufacturing - "Is this plastic brittle enough?" - "no, it's too easy to punch the holes out, make it much harder and fragile, in fact make it explode shrapnel pieces in all directions when anyone touches it, if you can". WHY ARE THESE THINGS MADE OUT OF THIS TERRIBLE MATERIAL???And as for the screw holes on this one, the brass inserts are not even badly made. Despite being plainly visible in the picture, they are simply not there at all. The screws just bite in to the plastic. The awful, brittle, shatter-if-you-look-sternly-at-it plastic. So I doubt this will last a month in place either.

I bought this for the connections to a CCTV camera and needed to mill out small access holes for the cables. I expected problems like shattering, but this is a sturdy, strong product.

Although very easy to use,and are quite well made they are very brittle when it comes to pushing holes through for the cable,I bought two,I had to glue the first one back together,Used a carbide bit to drill the second one,Case of once bitten

Nice solid box for the price. You know that feeling that you're going to break the box knocking out the cable entry? Not with this one.

Do not waste your time/money. Absolute tripe its so brittle it makes digestives seem tough, knocked out the hole for cable to run through and it completely broke into two pieces.

All details as described. I was able to push out the indented plastic a little too easily with a screwdriver. Luckily I was being gentle - too much force may have damaged the surrounding plastic.

It’s the fast delivery that was best, saving me leaving lockdown and letting me add an extra electrical outlet with minimal delay.

The plastic this product is made of is extremely brittle, so when I screwed through the mounting holes it shattered the plastic. Tried also to drill out the holes and they shattered and crumbled too. Had to give up trying to use it.
