Happy with this purchase. Two chickadees moved in the day I hung it up. Adorable and well made. Little doors on the side will be helpful to clean. Purchased to replace another bird house I bought here that fell apart. This is worth the price.

We added some metal rings around the door ways to keep our squirrels from chewing them out, and put some wood knobs on for a doorway perch--added a base to attach it with---stained, painted and sprayed it with a clear coat --then put it on top of a old grape arbor, and as soon as we walked away we had a pair of birds checking it out. It was a nice little craft project and will probably last many years

Made very sturdy, with separate rooms, this is the perfect style birdhouse!It's heavy so you'll need a heavy iron shepherds hook to hold it.You're going to love it as much as I do!Finally I've found a home for our little wild birds.Exactly as described.I'd definitely recommend!

A very pretty home to have for the birds

I have used unpainted aka 'natural' birdhouses outdoors in the past ... and, within just a couple to several years, they are rotting away and coming apart. But for those that I have painted to protect the wood ... some of them are being used by the birds as many as 10 and 12 years after first placing them in the trees around my gardens.I use a good exterior latex (water-base) paint ... specifically, Behr Marquis (Behr guarantees their paints to be colour-fast for at lest 25 years). But better yet, the paint seals the pores of the wood against the weather, and the next boxes last for many years. And the colours have never deterred the birds from using the nest boxes. I do recommend you paint boxes either in the fall or early winter, so the paint has completely dried and is odor-free before placing them outdoors.

I got this for the double family aspect. It is fully assembled and ready to be painted, if you want to. I wanted to jazz it up and painted it with exterior latex paint in blue. Gotta be careful NOT to use a paint that is toxic to birds, however. So I used a regular water based house paint and it came out great! We screwed it to tree, however, because the hanger wire that comes with it looks like it will break at some point. Don't want it falling due to any high winds or weird weather, so we securely screwed it to a big Maple tree. Nice design that is reminiscent of a log cabin/ Very cute. We can see it from our kitchen window and really, really enjoy watching the birds check it out for the first time and approve. Watching them next is a wonderful joy for all ages. Really nice and we love it! Bird and people approved!! : )
