Worked fine for 4 months (June through September) and on first attempt to recharge it failed. Also, tried to use batteries but would not work. Look for something else.Update on my review: 1 star to 4 stars;I've changed my review because of the customer service. They were super fast and happy to work with me, to either refund me or send me a replacement.I accepted a replacement. Very pleased with the color, appearance, size and motion detection. For this price it is a must that it will last longer than a few months. I will give an update soon.Update: Charged and it works!

The last bathroom waste basket I bought was too small. This one is perfect. The flip top works great and the color is fabulous. So easy to plug in the top before bed once in awhile to charge. No annoying batteries.

I liked the automatic function when it worked. After the second charge, the automatic function didn’t work, without being plunged into the electrical outlet. It's no longer a smart trash can. I don't have an electronic plug on the floor to keep it plugged in so the automatic feature will work. I have to keep the lid open which defeats the purpose of having an automatic opening and closing lid. Time has passed I can't get a refund.Hope you have better luck. I think it is a waste of money..junker.

While I can’t change my impression of the product itself and the need for quality control, the seller here is exceptional with customer service and will immediately respond to either help troubleshoot or offer replacement/refund solution if the unit does not work.——————Heed the warnings on this one from others. The color and size are great, but the function and charging is frustrating and non-functional. I don’t know if they are all like this, but the sensor seemed poorly tuned as the lid on this one will open readily for motions many feet away like walking into the bathroom or drying your hands on a nearby towel, however when it comes to throwing something away it doesn’t respond quickly at all to motion in close proximity. You could wave at it slowly or quickly for a minute straight and only once you become 100% exasperated and lose all hope, reach over to it with whatever unpleasant item you would like to dispose of clutched in your hand to open it manually will it finally relent and grant you access. I was willing to live with this as there are many things in life that require the patience of a monk to endure, but then the charging is totally unreliable. I had some success charging this once. But the second time I’ve gone to charge it it doesn’t seem to respond. I then cracked open the battery compartment which is bewilderingly large. It clearly does not take AA batteries or 9 V batteries or AAA batteries or C or D batteries. I supposed it might state somewhere what type of batteries it takes buried in this infuriatingly long product description but most things are very clear about this on the product themselves and this just leaves you wondering.Hoping customer service will read this and just send me a new functioning one.

I love the product while it worked however after second time charging it, the sensor stopped working. It’s extremely annoying as I have to manually open and close the lid!
