I was looking for a gate that my kids can’t climb nor throw things easily. I was also looking for the safety of the toddler era so they can’t get their body parts stuck either. They have tried climbing the one I placed to get to the kitchen and it shows it is slightly bending across because my husband also jumps over it. They’re very sturdy though and I love the lock feature it includes so it won’t continue rolling out if anyone leans on it. You can install flat outwards and flat inwards so it’s versatile as you can see how I was able to install two different ways.

I bought these gates for my dogs. I have 2 clever puppies. And they will test a gate and find the flaws! These look good and are not bulky at all! They lock with a quarter turn of the knob and unlock by lifting the know and a quarter turn back. Very easy. Comes with a great cut sheet that you can tape to your wall and know EXACTLY where to place your screws. 8 screws (supplied) and your done! I don't know if they are intended for outside but I have one on my deck to keep my buddies safe and in eye range and I have not had any issues at all. It's gone through all 4 seasons (Live in the NorthEast) along the shore so you can't ask for any worse conditions and they still work and look as good as new. I gently hit it with the 'ol pressure washer and it looks good as new after a super nasty pollen season! I have no hesitation when I tell you to BUY BUY BUY!! Just come back and thank me later. Also you can see im a real life Buyer. The best bang for the buck here on Amazon for sure! I'm just mad how much money I wasted on crap gates before I found this one. And before you ask ... My Corgies have tested the gate. They can't sneak under or push through! But my lord did they try. They thought I bought another pushover chocho gate like the last time. My Bucky and Pepper have given up on trying to defeat these gates ! Plus these are just a few screws. So no major permanent damage to deal with when you feel it's time for them to come down. Some gates are so overcomplicated and wreck your home installing or removing them. These gates have stood the test of time.

This was fairly simple to install and now it works great. However, using the provided screws was a disaster. The heads kept breaking off even after drilling pilot holes. Do yourself a favor and just use better screws and drywall anchors if needed.

We installed this to keep the dogs from getting upstairs. For that purpose, this works great. The screen material doesn't always want to finish rolling up, but it's not a huge deal for us. This has been installed for a couple of months now and it seems to be holding up well.

This is such a sturdy, well made gate! We bought it for our the bottom of our stairs to keep our puppy from going up when we’re not home and it’s so much better than the swinging gates we had previously. Locks well, easy to install, perfect height. Overall great value for the cost!

I bought this because my cats were constantly trying to dart outside! We used to let our cats out for a few hours a day to enjoy themselves, but the last time my cat got out, he was badly injured and needed two surgeries. We tried to ground him after that but he became very sneaky and would hide and dart as soon as we would walk near the door. Since we put this up, he hasn't escaped. Easy to install and even keeps the dog in when we open the door to greet guests.

We bought this as a dog gate for a growing puppy, and picked extra tall for a larger dog. I think this gate would be great for kids. We loved that it's retractable and easy to install, and the locking mechanism makes it a bit more rigid. I think this would be great for separating spaces for kiddos. However, this is also billed as a dog gate and there's where we go wrong. If you have a dog that can get his paws over the top of this gate, doesn't even have to be a misbehaving dog, just one that's excited, a dog's weight will render this gate pretty useless, especially at the bottom of stairs. The locking mechanism helps a little to make it more rigid but it's no match for an excited dog. I don't think this should be billed as a dog gate, or at least, it should be made clear that it should be for smaller dogs only. It's not strong enough to hold even a mid-sized dog back. If, when your dog jumps, his paws are taller than the gate, this gate will not work for you.UPDATE: the makers of this gate offered me a full refund after reading my review, which certainly doesn't fix the product, but still goes a long way in my book, in a time where I consider customer service is a form of currency. I didn't ask for a refund, they didn't have to offer it, and it was very appreciated, especially around the holidays. I added another star just for the customer service.

We were looking for something to span our front covered porch stairs so the dogs could enjoy the outdoors with us without fear of them running in the road. I was worried as our span is at the max of their recommended width, but the gate works perfectly. Remember to lock it. As a bonus, it's aesthetically pleasing. It blends perfectly with the posts and is opaque.
