Great kettle , well worth the price
De'Longhi's Icona series is stylish, sleek, and very sophisticated and is available in many different colours to suit your taste. We chose the cream colour, as it was the most suited to our kitchen. The 360 degree swivel base compared is very useful and is so much better than other types where you can't move the kettle around without having to turn the whole unit. The kettle has a filter which majorly helps prevent any lime-scale getting into your cups of tea/coffee, it's also super easy to remove and clean, and would like to point out that lime-scale at the bottom of the kettle can build up quite quickly (depending on how hard your water is), so I use a descaler to make sure the kettle is well maintained, as it's expensive! On the cost front, yes this kettle is more expensive than most but it certainly is worth it, the Amazon price was at least 50% cheaper than our local John Lewis, where it is also for sale.On average it takes around 2 minutes to boil 1-litre of water which is great. Pouring the water, we have no issues with dribbling. To sum this product up, it's a good quality kettle that boils water like it should. Okay, so the price is high, but if you're willing to pay extra to have a well designed/stylish kettle, this one is waiting to be a great addition to your kitchen!

Delonghi Icona cream kettle
My previous classic cream delonghi kettle worked flawlessly with heavy use for over 6 years and has only now started to stick to the base when trying to lift off. Have decided to replace with regret.I fancied a change but its been a tough decision - theres a lot of choice. I finally settled on a dualit cream jug kettle which I have also reviewed. Unfortunately it was damaged and had to go back but was also very small (the difference between a 1.5L and 1.7L is remarkable!) After much debate and review reading, I then decided to go for this. It arrived in good time, tho like the dualit kettle (also from Amazon), the outer box was very tatty and falling to bits, with bits of tape hanging off. The kettle itself tho, thoroughly inspected is in perfect condition. It works well so far (Ive only had it a couple of days). It looks very smart - time will tell how well the shiny surface wears (my previous kettle had a matt finish and was very easy to keep clean). I am getting used to the trim of the handle and base which is in brown as opposed to black but I think I'll get used to that as it does look very nice. The lid is larger than the last kettle but, as one of the only faults with my previous kettle and one which prompted me to initially go for a different brand, there is a little bit of effort in removing the lid to fill the kettle. I really wish the lid was hinged as it would be so much easier! However, I guess you cant have it all. THe only other thing is that the water level indicator is a bit skinny and takes getting used to as the other one was bigger and easier to see. This might be a problem if you have sight trouble. The cord tidy in the bottom is, I imagine now standard, however the cord can only feed out of one spot so the cord length is not as adjustable.I do think that overall, there are a couple of design faults in the lid and water level. This is an expensive kettle at £80 so I hope that it lasts as well as my last one. Having read reviews of so many other kettles I feel so lucky to have had one that lasted so well - some people have had such problems...time will tell but at that price, delonghi will be hearing from me sharpish if anything goes wrong!

Love at first sight, and second, and third, ...
I liked the look of this kettle - its shape and colour - on the website but was concerned about the lid. It looked a bit small and flimsy.I use filtered water all the time so I'm pouring from a jug, and the stream is too wide for quick filling through most kettle spouts, so I need a lid that is robust and easily removable. When I first unpacked the kettle I fell in love with it. It's very sturdy. The knob is not at all flimsy and the lid comes off quite easily. I knew instantly that the kettle would be a great success. It is quite noisy - a plus factor for me, because it means I can squeeze in another quick task whilst it's heating, and I know by the sound when it's time to nip back just before it boils, so I'm all ready to make the tea with rapidly boiling water. It boils very quickly even when full and looks beautiful on the counter. Another plus factor is that if you take the kettle off its stand for any reason, it activates the cut out lever, so if you happen to pour out the water before it has switched off, you can't accidentally put an empty kettle back on to boil.

Such a brilliant kettle!
We love this kettle, the boil time is the most impressive thing about it. It takes up to 39secs to get a full boil which gives a great performance
