Cheap, but works
So it wants you to hammer particle board on the part you aren't supposed to. This was a red flag. Next you have to keep soaking these blue pieces in water, but are terrible compared to other diy shelves. Honestly if they just had regular wood nails vs the blue ones like other diy I would have been happy. Don't plan on ever picking it up and don't need a quick drying blue substance that sticks on everything. Also they didn't go all the way in after 5+ hits and ruined the top bc it dries so fast. The rest was decent quality. Give it a 4 bc cheap and idc if it looks ugly. If you buy it I recommend soaking and scrubbing the blue stuff off. Should hopefully go all the way in after removing. Easy fix to a mass produced item with poor bored holes

Sturdy, good price!
I've put off buying a mail sorter for my classroom forever because I didn't want the crummy cardboard shelves that most of them have. This has particle board, so way sturdier. It still has the "nail the cardboard" back that I don't love, but it was pretty sturdy before I put the back on. Overall, pleased so far. Will have to see how it stands up to classroom use!

Beware the Pegs
Note: Hammer the pegs in thoroughly. As far as they’ll go and then a little bit more for good measure. The paper instructions say nothing about how deep the pegs need to go. They say almost nothing at all. I thought I’d tapped them down all the way so when I got things together and found there were still some hefty gaps I figured I could just push them the rest of the way.I figured wrong. The pegs popped through the top and bottom, which I now see is a trend. It would have been nice to have have the little ‘3/4 of an inch’ thing that’s on the product page written in the instructions that came with the product. Or a warning that the pegs could pop through the top if they aren’t fully seated. Hey, even a little picture of a peg punctured board with some exclamation points would have done the job. It’s still pretty solid and I haven’t seen anything this size that can beat the price on sale (It was like 60% off or something like that). If I’d paid full price though I’d be pretty bummed, which is why I’m adding my voice to the choir. I’ve built a dozen book shelves with similar construction methods and I’ve never run into this before. I guess now I know - beware the pegs.

Works
I got this to store my paper crafting paper. It was easy to put together... although one of the pegs bubbled the laminate. The shelves are sort of cheap and I would not put toouch on them. How, it serves a purpose.

Great storage for 8 1/2" x 11" papers.
I like the dimensions to fit reams of paper and the way it was so easy to assemble once I was sure which vertical wall fit in the middle and which way to turn it.The shelves will bend a little over time with the weight of the paper. I was thinking I might even cut out matching shape pieces when the time comes that I need to replace the shelves. Don't worry about that happening any time soon since my first purchase was 2 years ago and I only see a slight curve in the shelves on that one. I think this is a little overpriced but I do like the product.

Narrow
This is a very narrow filing shelf. I was trying to use it for clipboards, which are barely wider than paper, and they wouldn’t fit. It was a let down.

Took a Chance...Going Strong After 5 years!
After seeing all the negative reviews I was afraid to purchase this shelf, and got another metal organizer instead. Having more stuff to organize, I eventually got this one too (the grey model), because I liked the fact that it had a flat top--to put more stuff of course! When I opened the package I was apprehensive, but none of my parts were broken, damaged, or missing, and everything was held tightly in place with Styrofoam. I put the thing together in under an hour while my husband got ready for work (and I'm a pretty slow worker on this sort of thing). The parts aren't labeled, but honestly it doesn't matter because there aren't very many parts and the pictures show where they go. No tools besides a tack hammer are necessary, and mine DID NOT crack or bubble during assembly (see below for construction tips).TIPS for those who are having trouble:Don't wet the dowels to activate the glue--they fit snug enough that this isn't necessary to hold the thing together, and allows you to take it apart if you screw up, if you need to pack up the thing to move to a new house...etc.For the top: Stick the dowels into the ends of the 3 boards that are sticking up (instead of pushing them into the top first--this might lead to the cracking others experienced). Another easy trick I did (just for the top, but I could have done it elsewhere) was to tap the dowels in before placing the top on. Tap them in until you hear that they touch the bottom of the drilled out space, or until they stick up less than the width of the top piece. The top pushes on nicely from there and..Ta Da...No bubbles!Make sure to look at the pieces to make sure you have all the finished edges facing the front....I got everything right except the bottom piece...Since I didn't use glue it was a simple fix, but I could have avoided that step if I'd paid more attention...Now, that being said, know what you are getting. This is a particle board organizer. It's plenty sturdy for that and works for the intended purpose of holding papers and some miscellaneous junk on top (a plant for instance) just fine, but it is not high quality material. Nothing compares to real wood, but--and take this from someone who owns a sawmill--real wood is expensive. Even for something as simple as this you have to measure, cut, plain and sand the boards, and then finish them. The product will turn out beautiful and much higher quality, but it will take a little time and more money, even if you do the work yourself. So if you are looking for a piece of furniture that will look fancy and be passed down for generations, spend more money and hire a carpenter or buy a more expensive model. If you want something cheap and quick that looks and works decent, then this is it.P.S. I got this in the grey, which is fine but kind of plain, so I let the kids stencil, paint, and bejewel the sides--it's for their papers anyway!Update: 5 years later and still going strong--daily use and no damage yet. It's actually a pretty sturdy little unit. I'm thinking of buying another to hold more paper options. I'm so glad I went with this instead of one of the cardboard models!

Seems Pretty sturdy and just what we needed
There are no markings on parts and no dimensions of each part so it takes a bit of time to sort them out. No screws it is just held together with dowels that are pre glued. NOTE: the glue is blue and it will stain whatever it gets on. You have to soak them in water but the manual does not say how long to leave in water. My first thought is it is way to high price for how it is made . . . But when I looked at cardboard units for $70 maybe $166 is not too bad as it is more like furniture and does seem pretty solid. It is flexible as well, you can put the shelves in any way you want them.

Nice enough and sturdy, but badly packaged
Nice enough and sturdy, easily build and nice overall look, but really badly packaged. All the little bits to put the shelves on, the wooden tag bits and hard plastic bits that go on the ends of the shelves where all loose in the box. This has caused some chipping on the out side panels. Also the top and bottom where warped and cracked. A few bits of loose polystyrene where in the box, not sure what these where supposed to do...

Could be better
Is not the best to put together I ended up damaging it, as you only use a hammer to put it together ended up damaging the surface due to the dowles coming through the surface

Perfect for what I wanted
Exactly what I was looking for, very impressed with it. It was easy to put together, as I wanted it on a wall I say it on two large wall brackets. The shelves are actually hardboard and whilst they will not hold a huge weight they are perfect for what I wanted ie letters and paperwork
