Very strong, be very careful where you place on certain iron surfaces can be very hard to remove, I use it to hold my lunch box up, works extremely well.

It is so strong that I have trouble getting some things off of it.

Pretty nice quality magnet fishing kit. The rope length is just the right length for the weight of the magnet. The eye bolts and washers are made of quality steel. I set my magnet up for dragging along the bottom on it's side and the kit came with a bottle of thread-locker which I used to secure a provided threaded eye bolt in it's hole in the magnet. The carabiners are magnetic and I didn't want them snagging obstructions or sticking to the magnet so I left them out of my magnet fishing system. The first magnet fishing outing, two of the items it brought up were hefty pieces of steel weighing 3 lbs and 7.5 lbs. Thick rebar at 3 lbs and heavy plate steel at 7.5 lbs. I'd buy this kit again.

Man did not know how heavy the magnet was. Going to get a good work out. The gloves are thin and really ads no protection. The hook is small and seems weak. I will have to get a better longer rope. Yet the rope they give is a good starter till I get used to the heaviness of the magnet.

I was impressed with how complete the kit was. We had everything we needed to use it right away. The only things it could have included that it didn't have would be instructions and a storage bag. Instructions weren't really needed, and it's easy to find something to store it in.One suggestion I have is that the rope is quite heavy compared to the magnet. If you lay the rope on the ground and throw the magnet, the weight of the rope prevents the magnet from going very far. However, if you coil the rope and throw the magnet and coiled rope together, the inertia of the rope being thrown with the magnet helps the magnet go farther. You have to be careful to coil the rope so it unfurls without tangling when you release it. You may find that not trying to throw the entire length of rope works better for you.

I ordered two of these magnets for my kids to do some magnet fishing in the local creek. One arrived fine. The other arrived in a separate, undamaged box but has a crack across the top and is scuffed as if it’s been used. Of course, in the process of contacting to make a return my kids decided to take their new magnets to the creek and use them so I don’t feel right processing a return at this point. Not sure how long they’ll last, but when I need to replace them I’ll find something better quality.

My husband was sooo happy to get this kit that immediately he wanted to go out and try it. However upon opening kit and trying it. The carabiner on the end is rusted and will not open. Ugh!!! This does not make for a happy wife, whose husband was excited.
