I brought along the Waterdrop filter as an back-up and emergency solution for a hike. It did come in handy. We were left stranded without drinking water and reduced to making use of a small puddle in the crevice of a rock. The water was green with moss and God knows what in it. We used the filter as indicated, the water that came out was fit to drink. We all drank about 200 ml each. 2 weeks on nobody got sick. Being 1/3rd the price of life straw, great value for money and commendable quality.

Brought this as backup if I rang out of bottled water and can use in running fresh water streams

This is not a 5-stage water filter like advertised but only has a hollow membrane filter thus it only filters 99% of all bacteria instead of the claimed 99.99%, which is a huge difference if you do not want to get sick. On the packaging we received it also only states hollow membrane and only states 99% filtration. This is just a false advertisement and if you take this out on a trail to drink sketchy water it can be a dangerous level of false advertisement.

It filters water well, but the water has a terrible aftertaste. When I was hiking, I caught myself thinking that I would rather walk another hour through the mountains to a populated area than drink from a stream with this tube. I advise you to pay an extra 10€ and buy yourself a Lifestraw
