Best Book on Acrylic Model Painting I've Read
I used Vallejo acrylics almost exclusively for two reasons. Returning to the hobby I discovered that their paints came in small, neat and dribble free bottles, not the inevitably guncked up Humbrol tins of my yoof and secondly I work overseas so wanted something that would be acceptable on aircraft. Acrylics are non toxic and non flammable so perfect. And of course along with my renewed interest came the realization that times had moved on and the quality and standards were light years on from where I was 20 years ago. YouTube is of course a wonderful source of information and very helpful, however, a good book is also invaluable. And here is one of the best, if not the absolute best I've read.Beautifully presented with top notch pictures describing techniques and methods with of course superb finished models that can inspire and perhaps depress you....The writing is clear and concise with all the information needed to help you from beginner to as far as you are willing to progress, talent and money allowing.Overall, if there is one book you need to buy about painting and weathering on models then this is it.

Perfect guide for the novice and experienced modeller
Perfect guide for the novice and experienced modeller. Really easy to replicate techniques and well explained, although you will need patience. The confusing topics of pre-colouring, shading and detail weather or pin wash are thoroughly covered. The use of advanced pigment powder for heavy weather effects or rust are superb. I like this book, although it concentrates on using Valejo products the method's can be used with any manufacturers products, even home made, such as weathering pigments or thin wash. I have learn't so much from this book and the effects can be applied to any modelling, not just military vehicles, but from aircraft to railways. Good book.

Eye opener
Having picked up modelling again after 25 years, this book has made easy understanding of the techniques I'm interested in. I am more confident now having read the book than I ever was just watching videos. The book is informative and heplful without being to technical. The only short coming is that some of the translations are not quite correct. But if you read the passages two or three time you can start to work out what they meant to write.A book well worth the money for someone who is looking to buy his first airbrush and compressor.

Great book, but
There's a lot of different techniques in this book which is great, but not in depth enough and some of the photos are hard to see what they are doing, I feel that this is more aimed at the semi professional or more experienced modeller, it needs more basic step by step instruction for us less proficient types!

All you'll need to know
After forty years of model making, I decided to improve by learning how to do airbrushing and weathering. After many clips on each on You Tube, which were great but hard to instantly access, I finally ordered the above book.It turned out to be ten times better than any other model book I had bought! This one covers everything in very fine detail, making it easy for even an absolute beginner like myself to follow. First thing it showed me was that a compressor that you can lower and raise the pressure is essential. NOT the low/medium/high setting on mine, which had caused me so much difficulty when trying an airbrush for the first time! (I didn't even think of applying a primer coat!).Although heavily, if not exclusively, focused on Vallejo products, I found that is good thing in that it focused my mind on what I do and will need in future! No more buying a maize of products like Vallejo, Tamiya, Ak and on and on! I was wasting both time and money trying to find the best one!So, in summary, this was worth every penny, and, at the moment, it feels like I will never need more instruction than this book has provided. Fully deserves its five stars!

This is the book you have been looking for.
I have bought a number of books over the years that detail 'tips and techniques' but they've always been lacklustre or missing details that generally explain the effect you are trying to achieve. This book however is everything and more. Great images helpful text and a decent amount of book for the money.Highly recommended. Also, it appears that the majority of materials used in the book are acrylic-based not enamel which is a major plus in my opinion.
