Works Great!!
I've never used a plastic welder before and this tool is amazing. I needed to weld some plastic back on my bumper and it was quick and so easy to use. Hold is very tight.

Very Surprised
Cannot comment as to long-term reliability. Just recieved the unit & put it to work immediately. No previous experience with a "plastic welder". That said, the learning curve wasn't steep at all. The repair requirement was bonding two dissimilar plastics (polyetheline & rigid polystyrene) on a thirty-six year old Cuisinart food processor. The repair was for a several-times previous repair with glue to a polyetheline cam on the back of the lid that depresses a shaft down to a small micro-switch, activating the motor. I've never been able to get any form of glue to hold, long-term. SuperGlue, Epoxy, JB-Weld .. tried them all. The pressure required to twist the lid, & slide the cam over the switch-pole takes a fair bit of torque & the glue just couldn't hold it in place. After bonding the cam to the lid with SuperGlue (to hold it in place), I used two heat-staples .. one on the side and one on top. The "gun" heated the staples to the point of melting into the dissimilar plastics within four seconds. On one of the staples, I didn't embed quite deeply enough so I simply reinserted the posts back into the gun & added a bit more pressure while heating. Likely sufficient, nevertheless I used the wand iron to melt and "marry" the two plastic surface joints together and then finished off by melting a bit of the supplied plastic in the kit over the top of the bond to ensure the staple posts were fully covered and the work surface clean and level. I tried the lid on the Cuisinart several times (on and off) and the repair is as-strong as the day we got it long, long ago. Not quite as pretty but much more durable. And so folks know, that sinfle point of failure that all really expensive "gizmos" have, would have caused us to replace the Cuisinart because the replacement assembly was almost as expensive as a new one. Our 14-cup model would have cost $250, new. I've been a "fixer" around the house for a long time. And we have save thousands $$$ by repairing. For the repeated headaches of fixing our "gizmo" now ended, I conclude the repair just about paid for the unit the first time. A few things to note: I don't care if it doesn't come with a case. That's what Harbor Freight is for. I researched a bunch of 'welders' on Amazon and a large number of them had a tendency to overheat or take way too long "to" heat. Failure to perform to minimum standards gets a "no" on those tools. Thus far, I'm very impressed. This tool is NOT an industrial quality tool. It is an occasional use tool and if used with that in mind and not abused, it should last quite some time. I particularly appreciate the "gun" being paired with a "wand" as I think good repairs will need both. Oh ---- one last thing, your wand will need some type of stand as it gets hot, really hot. In my single-use of it, I put it into a small salsa jar laying down as a holder. Effective, but a true soldering wand holder of some kind is needed, long term. For the money and a little TLC, this is a very decent value and should not be overlooked.

I have an old gas tank that is discontinued and no longer available. It had a crack and was leaking fuel bad! With this kit I was able to hold the crack together with the provided metal straps. Afterwords I used the correct plastic rod and melted it into the crack sealing it up. No more leaks!

Saved big bucks
Popped a hole in my zeroturn mower's plastic fuel tank. Checked around for replacements but they were in the $400 - $500 price range. Ran across a couple Youtubes showing how to repair one with plastic weld. It looked pretty easy so I gave it a try. This kit made short work of the task. I was able to easily plug the hole AFTER using several safety precautions because of the gasoline.

Works as should
Worked awesome. It definitely takes some finesse and practice to get good as smoothing the crack out with the iron but if you don't need a factory finish on a crack repair this is the ticket!

Awesome for fixing cracked ATC and ATV plastic fenders!
Great plastic repair kit, make sure you watch some Youtube videos before using to get tips on using it.Take your time and just remember that too much heat will damage the plastic you are fixing, I used a spray bottle with water and used it on each staple after it was installed. I highly recommend this kit, it's much more costly to buy new ATV fenders then just repair them with the hot staples and plastic rods!

Not a bad kit for the price
I broke the battery case for my Ebike battery. I contacted the company I bought it from and asked if I could buy a replacement case. Sorry, they can't supply a case but could supply a new battery for $900.So instead I spent $50 some odd dollars to buy this kit.One of the reasons I bought this one is that it had the staples and the iron. I wanted both.I am a mechanic by trade, I do lots of welding but I have never tried plastic welding. I got the battery out of the case, got the case prepped and went at it. The hot staple gun worked excellent, mere seconds to heat up the staple and sink it nicely into the plastic. I stitched it up along the crack placing the staples close together. I was pleasantly surprised at how much stability the staples alone brought back to the case. This is where I take 1/2 a star away. Cutting the staples back I could not get close enough to the case to cut them flush, I had to use a file and some sandpaper to get the nibs so they were out of the way.Now for the other 1/2 star deduction.. Zero information on how to identify the different plastics. A google search brought up lots of information but it still would have been nice to have it included. The other thing is the round welding rods were identifies but the two bundles of other material were not, I have no idea what they are.My case was abs, i used the iron and one of the abs rods to fill in a few small holes and to iron over the crack.Does it look like new, not even close. Is it holding together, seems to be a decent repair. Was it worth the money I spent. Heck yes. $50 compared to $900.I'm happy with it now, how long the welder lasts is anyone's guess, but I got what I needed done. Will I try it on other items that need repair, sure. Not a bad unit at all for the price
