If You Coach ... YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK
As a golf coach at the local High School, I wanted to learn more about the process of motivating young athletes to do their best on the course. This book delivers that and more. It should be required reading for all coaches. This book is not a read once, got it kind of book. It is a reference that needs to be re-read over and over again to keep the coach grounded and applying the principles and techniques that lead to better coaching. As a coach, I will be more attentive to my athletes needs, what motivates them, and how to approach each one of them to get their best performance. An added benefit, I am learning to be a better father to my sons, and a better weekend athlete on the golf course. You cannot lose reading this book.

Coaching: The Mental Game
Coaching: The Mental Game is written primarily for coaches of athletic sports, but anyone who works with youths in a leadership role can benefit from Coach Dorfman's experience and suggestions. He presents a clear description of a coach's job as well as specific and successful strategies. As in his book, The Mental Game of Baseball, the emphasis is on mental discipline. The second part of the book consists of his observations (arranged alphabetically) on all aspects of coaching that one can consult as one would a dictionary.

WOW - So many great lessons
I purchased this book at age 60 to mprove my golf game; the author was recommended by Roy Halladay. I sure wish I had read this book many years ago as the lessons apply to more then just sports: being a leader in the corporate world, being a husband, being a parent, etc. The book is structured more for the coach then the athlete, but since the athlete has to be a self coach that does not matter. The whole book applies. While I intend to improve my golf scores, I know that by applying the lessons in this book I will have the improved approach and behavior of a better athlete. I recommend this book for anyone who is committed to improving him or her self.

Best coaching book ever.
If you don't mind researching and reading about the Mental aspect of coaching, you will love this book. This is by far the best coaching book I have ever read. I recommend it to anyone who wants to explore what coaching should be about. The president of our league is planning on buying one of these for all of our coaches. Excellent read.
