Does cool you down vs other sheets. NOTE: two different fabrics, this review for one with stripes.
Fabric feels heavy and drapes well. Sheet feels substantially heavier than a normal sheet. One side is cooler and smoother than the other. We also tried the other fabric (without the stripes) but it didn't work well. Get the one with stripes.Don't expect to be able to layer another blanket on top of this... the top is too slippery.Washing is easy. Drying is hard. No heat on drying (air fluff only). We spin twice, then air fluff in dryer for a while then hang to dry.You are cooler and less sweaty under this sheet than a normal sheet.

Also works for winter!
The media could not be loaded. During the wintertime, my wife likes to keep the house a little warmer at night than I do. So in the interest of marital harmony, I decided to give this blanket a try, using it in combination with the comforter I normally use. Not really sure of the best way to combine the two covers, I tried all four possible combinations for at least two nights each way. Here's what I learned:Combo #1 - blanket UNDER comforter (i.e. next to me), shiny (nylon/polyethylene) side DOWN: VERY cool at first, but the temperature rose pretty gradually over about an hour to the point where it was definitely hotter than the comforter alone (which makes sense, as the comforter acted as an insulating layer; the heat absorbed by the blanket pretty much stayed under the comforter)!Combo #2 - blanket UNDER comforter, shiny side UP: started off at a pretty similar temperature as that of the comforter by itself, then rose a bit over about 30 minutes to the same level as Combo #1. Again, not the solution I was looking for.Combo #3 - blanket OVER comforter, shiny side UP: this was the definitely the hottest! After about 2 hours each of the nights I tried it, I was sweating and couldn't take any more!Combo #4 - blanket OVER comforter, shiny side DOWN (as in the video): THIS was the method I was looking for! After about an hour, the temperature was clearly cooler than the comforter by itself, but not SO cool that it was uncomfortable. I'd say that the level of cool stabilized after about four hours.Since finding the best solution for my needs (Combo #4), I have been sleeping more comfortably than I ever have been able to during my 15-year marriage to my heat-loving wife! It is no exaggeration to state that this blanket has changed my life for the (much) better. Moreover, after my experimenting with it, I'm certain that it will work (as advertised) to keep me comfortably cool in the summer as well! One final point (also mentioned in the video): because the nylon (cooling) side can be really slippery on fabric, I've found it useful to secure the corners to my comforter with safety pins. This is not at all a bother; in fact, the safety pins help me make my bed in a flash!I think you'll find this blanket to be well worth the money.

Replaced my old 3 year old cooling blanket
UPDATE TO PREVIOUS REVIEW:I bought this blanket (from this very listing) 3 years ago and loved it (see my review below). And I love this blanket too - since I've been using it, I've woken up at night COLD...which has never happened to me in the summertime (because my roommates keep it so warm in the summers). So yes, it works just as described and makes it so much easier to fall asleep at night. The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars was because the previous blanket I'd purchased (again, from this listing, from the same seller, so it should have been the same blanket), had one shiny side (the cooling side) and one cotton side (for when it's not so hot and you don't need as much cooling). The blanket I just received doesn't have different sides - both are the shiny cooling fabric. I really liked the first blanket because during the seasonal transitions, it was nice to either use the shiny side or the warmer side, depending on the temperature. But with that said, if you're looking for something to keep you super-cool at night, buy this blanket - you won't regret it! :)----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------My roommates like to keep our townhouse much warmer in summertime than I prefer. Even sleeping in the cooler basement with a fan directly on me, I was still hot and had trouble falling and staying asleep every summer. I bought this blanket hoping for some relief...and it worked!!PROs:1. It has 2 sides - the cooling side (slick and shiny) and the other side (feels like a very lightweight flannel). I love this, because as we get into fall, the nights turn a lot cooler, and I can just flip the blanket over to get warm.2. It's very lightweight.3. It's a good size. I bought the throw size, and it's very comfortable for me. I'm 5'3", but like to keep my feet stuck out, so the length is perfect.4. I can easily fall asleep with it, while before, even using just a cotton sheet, I'd be too warm to get to sleep.5. If I wake up in the middle of the night, it's still cool. I toss and turn a lot, and others have said you have to move periodically to get it to stay cool, so that seems about right.6. Using it with a fan makes it stay really cool without moving around a lot.NEUTRALs:1. The cooling effect doesn't happen if you use this blanket in conjunction with a sheet or another blanket. It must be used by itself with air blowing on it to get the full cooling effect.2. If you tend to get colder as the night goes on, keep a warmer throw handy to pull over the cooling blanket. That will warm you right up.CONs1. This may be my fault because when I purchased it 3 years ago, either I didn't see or didn't notice any washing instructions. I've washed and machine-dried it several times, and while the blanket's cooling properties are holding up just fine, the cool side pills a lot, which feels weird on my skin. Hence, I'm getting ready to buy a new one. Still, after 3 years, it's been a great bargain, even with the pilling!2. The dog doesn't like it. She prefers my old faux fur throw, even in the dead of summer. Idiot. :)

Best sleep in a long time
I never write reviews on here but this blanket has changed my sleep. I overheat while i sleep no matter how cold the room is. I overheat and wake up covered in sweat in a freezing room and using only a sheet. This blanket is so lightweight and the one side truly is cooling. I cannot sleep without this now

It helps
This certainly helped during the hotter nights for sleeping. When I didn't need the cooling, the other side was comfortable as well and gave more weight than a thin bed sheet.
