As much as I'd love to say I needed these after catching the big one! I'd be stretching the truth a little. I did however use these for several bass I caught. Fish has to be big enough for these to function well, otherwise it will just slip out. They were handy in holding the fish steady allowing me to safely unhook it for a quick catch and release. Being in the medical field I've seen enough fish hooks to the hand to warrant having these readily available for a newbie hobby fisherman. They're light weight- which is nice, but not sure of their longevity. But for the price I wouldn't complain.

These are a great pair of fish claw grippers.I’m not too fond of grabbing the fish I catch, so these claw grippers are amazing. Super easy to grab and fish and hold them in place while I get the hook out.They are made of a lightweight metal with sturdy plastic handles, but they the grip well and can hold fish of many sizes. Even down to a bluegill, and larger fish as well.These claw grippers are very sturdy, hold the fish well, and I highly recommend them.

This fish gripper is easy to use but will hurt a fish if you plan on catching and releasing. The metal will tear it's scales even if you try not to. So, just keep that in mind if that's what you plan on doing for the day. Otherwise, it does make it easier to get the fish off the hook compared to using your hands or gloves.

But the other worked very well.I hate touching fish when we go fishing, and gloves were the only thing i used to use till my husband seen these!Made getting fish even easier and less stressful!

It holds a catfish just fine. No more worries about a flopping fish stinging me. Also less stress on the fish for catch and release. I wish the handles were a bit bigger so I could fit all four fingers. I have to leave my pointing finger out when using.

I got these for my dad. He loves to fish but had a stroke almost a year ago and has trouble with motor control on his left side. These fish gripping pliers make it much easier for him to keep a solid grip on catfish when taking them off the hook, and work great for that purpose. They are well made and swivel smoothly and easily.

I thought this device was spring loaded to help keep it closed. You do have to have a good grip when you grab the fish to keep the claws closed and the fish from getting away from you. It would be nice to have thicker handles to make it easier to hold especially for a strong fish.
