Nice yet flawed SG
Really love the SG. The guitar was very well-packaged and the thick gig bag is really nice. The neck is smooth and the fretboard is very comfortable. The guitar is smooth and comfortable to hold. The action (string height) was perfect as was the intonation. The stock pickups are hot and sound pretty good. All parts work well on the guitar. I swapped out the bridge and the machine heads for black ones. I swapped the pickups for Wilkinson alnico 5 hot Filtron type humbuckers. I also re-wired with vintage wire and upgraded the pots, jack, switch, capacitors, and coil-split each humbucker. All the stock components worked well I just already had the new parts ready to go.While the neck is quite comfortable, I found many high or partially high frets which caused some buzzing across the fretboard. I’ve included a picture with blue sharpie marking all the high spots. I completely sanded and leveled the frets. The guitar plays amazingly well now, but I realize this would be a deal breaker for many. I recently learned how to level high frets so I needed the practice. I own 4 other Fesley guitars, and this is the first with any high frets. So I could’ve just gotten one with bad fret work. Who knows? So I’d love to recommend this to someone starting out because it’s a really cool looking guitar and now plays exceptionally well, but I cannot because of the high frets. I’d wait to for other reviews to see if this is an isolated incident so to speak or if it’s a larger issue.

An SG Delight - Best Value
The media could not be loaded. People need to open their eyes to guitar brands that aren't household names.First things first: this is inspired by an SG. There's no getting around that. But this body is offset and looks awesome! Fesley nailed this.Another thing I love about this guitar is that it has a smooth and comfortable matte finish on the body and neck. No thick coating or gloss. Extra points there!!Short-scale neck and string-thru body? Yes, please! How about the hardware? The pickups are fine. Nobody expects amazing pickups from a sub-$500 guitar. But you can replace them or get a better amp or effects. The tuners are the smoothest ones from any guitar under $1,000 that I've tried. They are buttery smooth to turn. They're not as stable as the ones on my expensive Ibanez. Oh well.Fretwork is pretty good for a guitar of this price. Frets are definitely smooth enough to play out of the box but would suggest polishing them in the future. Action was a bit high for me but I took care of that. No need to worry about sharp fret ends. I always suggest paying for a good set up for any guitar though.Fit and finish? I'll deduct a point here because on the fretboard binding, there are some minor rough spots where the fret was installed? Does this matter? Almost nobody would care. If you understand that these guitars are massed produced and that there's compromise, you won't care. It's not like you can see these when you're playing.Another big reason I prefer this guitar over similar ones is that the feel is so good. The matte finish neck and neck shape and thickness (feels slim) make this guitar so easy to play. This is the most important thing for me when I buy a guitar.Fesley includes and guitar cable, strap, and picks. Perfect!I've only had the guitar for a few days and I've enjoyed playing it so much. Knowing that I didn't spend that much money makes the playing experience much better as well. I've played enough guitars that I don't need a fancy G or E in front of this style guitar to feel good. Honestly, the inexpensive guitars nowadays are light-years better than those 5X the cost from when I started learning.
