As people age, they tend to feel an increased need for safety devices such as this handrail. This product was ordered because a couple of family members didn't enjoy the thought of falling onto brick and concrete.The handrail arrived, just as estimated, in 2 days. Whenever something this long is shipped, there is an increased chance of damage. However, after unpacking the railing, and its accessories, no damage was noted. All the parts were well packed and Amazon added their own custom box to the factory one.The parts were all there. The two rail tubes were straight and unflawed. This handrail will be used outdoors. So, its stainless steel construction was not only a bonus, from my perspective, it was mandatory. The wall thickness of the railing was specified as 0.060". This was an important factor because a railing which is too thin might fail. I was unable to verify the wall thickness because, to my surprise, the tube ends were so well designed that they were welded closed. The three foot rail sections weigh right at 3 pounds each and have a sturdy, robust feeling. Their diameter is a good balance between grip-ability and strength.The parts fit together well. I had planned to seal the tubes to prevent water intrusion but, as I mentioned, that was handled at the factory. However, speaking of water, a small opening, on the lower side of the lower end of the handrails, would allow any moisture inside the tube to drain. Too large an opening might allow insects to enter. The mounting brackets have cylinders which accept the ends of the rail tubes. The ends of those cylinders had somewhat sharp edges which I smoothed using a mild file and emery cloth. Other than that small finishing issue, I can't find anything to complain about.

It came with various options for installation over woods, regular wall with anchors and even including drill bits for different wall materials. The instructions called for backing off the set screws prior. However, I recommend to remove them so the rail can slide easily thru the brackets during installations. After setting up the first bracket and installed it to the wall and prepare for the second bracket. I would suggest that you try out the rail to make sure that there is no interference when you finalize your installations. The rail was not too heavy but a helper would make your job easier.

We are renovating very old home to make it safe and secure for our elderly parents. The stairway to the basement was lacking a handrail and this one fit the bill. It is stainless steel, which is great for durability as there is still lots of reno work ongoing. It is as study as an ox. You could easily do chin ups on this hand rail. It took my husband 1-1/2 hours to install the hand rail because he had to add a stud behind the sheetrock for the the middle bracket. Installation instructions were really good and hardware was included. This is the most secure, sturdy handrail I've ever used and even I feel confident carrying things down the basement stairs now.
