Excellent caliper for the money!!!
Best caliper I've ever bought for this price and then some, hands down! You panty-waste talkers need to stop talking trash and RTFM. If you have a defective unit (and it happens) contact the seller or manufacturer and work it out. If you just can't read or fathom reading instructions, then send it back and keep using your thumbs, toes, arms and feet. I grew up in a shop environment and am very familiar with these types of tools. This caliper hands down is as accurate and precise as advertised. Mine in particular is highly accurate as I used my precision blocks (which are perfect btw) and could NOT find a single flaw or off measurement. As GadgetClass and David Andrews amongst others have noted, I also tested "numerous" items top to bottom in the jaw and the accuracy is stunningly accurate! At this price you can't buy another brand caliper this accurate for the money anywhere I know of. I had a small box of 6" calipers (some more expensive than this one) that I just tossed out because this iGaging caliper is that good! I will certainly be buying more iGaging brand items if this is any indication of the quality and craftsmanship they offer. Unless you work for NASA and the like, this caliper will accurately measure anything you need it too. And I'd bet NASA has a good number of projects this will suit just perfectly fine as well. Mine goes back to "0" "EVERY" TIME! I don't have to slam it or repeatedly go back and forth to get it too zero out. The locking thumb screw is a plus and holds the precise measurement in place very well. The fit and finish are top shelf! Depth gauge is just as accurate along with the perfectly machined depth gauge base. If you can read and understand what you have here and how to use it, you won't be disappointed. Highly recommended for home and business shops. The perfect all-around caliper for high quality general precision work. As Mikey said, "Try it! You'll like it!" ;-) Move over Mitutoyo!!! There's a new kid on the block, ...and he's giving you some stiff competition for the money!

Great calipers. Get the absolute origin feature
I have been very been very happy with mine. I have 3 iGaging calipers that I keep in different places. The last model I got will show the measurement in fractions/decimal inches or decimal mm which I do like. If I were you I would get the version that does all 3. Definitely get the model that has absolute origin - all of mine do so I've never tried a caliper that doesn't but I would think that would be very annoying to have to zero it out each time. My buddy runs a high end calibration business (high end like he measures calibration of tools for a nuclear lab and a semiconductor company) and I brought them over to his calibration room and they were extremely accurate. He was impressed I was super happy. He had a Fowler caliper and Mitutoyo and as I recall the Mitutoyo bested the iGaging accuracy by some completely insignificant (for me and 99.99% of people) amount on one measure and the iGaging was exactly the same on several others. I bought the iGaging thinking this would be my cheap set that I would mostly use around the shop and that I would get a Mitutoyo as my precision set but after seeing the results I decided I had better things to spend $450 on so I never did buy a more expensive caliper. When you get down to that small of difference you are better to invest in some kind of way to take dust particles off the jaws (seriously - my friend did one measure and it was off a little more than it had been in another measure so he cleaned the jaws and bingo - it hit dead on). I wish they had an auto off feature. None of mine do. I can't tell if they have added this feature on the ones they are selling now. If they don't keep an extra battery at all times because you'll no doubt leave it on at some point and come back to a dead battery.

Extremely Accurate, Solid Build, and Perfect for 3D Printing Work
The iGAGING Absolute Origin 0–6" Digital Caliper has quickly become one of my most reliable tools. The accuracy is spot‑on, and the measurements stay consistent thanks to the absolute origin feature — no constant zeroing like cheaper calipers. The stainless steel construction feels sturdy and smooth, and the slide action is precise without any wobble. The IP54 rating is a nice bonus, keeping dust and splashes from interfering with the electronics. I also love the SPC/USB output port, which makes it easy to log measurements directly into software when I’m working on detailed projects. Switching between inch, metric, and fractional modes is quick and intuitive. For anyone doing 3D printing, woodworking, machining, or detailed hobby work, this caliper is a fantastic upgrade. It’s accurate, durable, and feels like a professional‑grade tool at a great price. Now I just need to learn how to use my CAD software to be able to create more projects for me to 3D print. Made a few projects and this Caliper really helped making project simpler. And everything fit perfect because of the accurate measurements.

Incredibly Accurate
This is a very nice set of calipers. I went with the 6 inch ones. They are made out of nice stainless steel and feel plenty durable. I used to have a cheap pair of plastic ones, but they broke so i wanted to get something that wouldn't break the bank, but higher quality than the ones i owned before. The main thing i want to share is just how accurate these Calipers are. I was trying to think of what to test them on, then i remembered that i have a pair of accurate 1, 2, 3 Blocks and decided to use them to test the accuracy of the calipers. As you can see from the pictures, they read 1.0000 on the 1-Inch side, 2.0000 on the 2-Inch side and 3.0005 on the 3-Inch side. So they are more than accurate enough for most tasks. There isn't really much more to say about them.

A standout product in its own right, an absolute steal in this price range
I purchased this caliper and the compatible USB interface at the same time (see "iGaging SPC USB Cable for OriginCal 100-700 Series" for my very positive comments). The caliper itself arrives in a sturdy reusable storage device, with a battery installed & a spare battery in the case. The fit & finish of the caliper is above average, with no loose or poorly-fitted parts. Test measurements were accurate & exactly repeatable. If you've used this type of instrument before, you know that it's best when they don't do anything unique or creative. This caliper operates smoothly, the buttons all feel exactly alike, the display is clear & uniform. The model I purchased also included a base attachment that allows stable depth measurements. The instructions were easy to understand and completely explain the various features (purists may complain about the quality of the translation). A NIST-traceable calibration test certificate was also included, unusual for this price range. Besides the obvious quality, a key reason I selected this product is because all the reviews I've read state that the "average battery life" estimates are not hype. The problem with many similar products is that even when turned "off", they simply blank the display but are still consuming power, and may kill those tiny, expensive button cells in a week. The OriginCal series uses the much more common CR2032 coin cells, and other reviewers have reported shelf life of a year or more (the instructions list 2 years with typical usage). Of course actual battery life will depend most on how much you actually use the caliper. I did a ton of pre-purchase research because I was convinced I'd need to spend USD300-500 to get what I wanted. I even contacted the manufacturer by phone & they quickly transferred me to a person who could answer technical questions. So far, this product is everything I was hoping for & more.

Smooth action, great accuracy.
I put mine up against some Jo blocks grade A every quarter inch.. They measured within a half thou all the way out. I had been wanting to get a set of "everyday" 8 inch calipers that would be accurate and I would not cry much if they got crunched. After hours of comparisons and reading online, I took a chance and bought the iGaging OriginCal. This is my first digital caliper. (time to give in to the newfangled stuff after 40 years of using dials!) After toying around with it for a while, I found it always returns to zero, although if you do it quickly, it takes a couple of seconds for the computer in the caliper to catch up. Slower movements and it keeps up no problem. The action is smooth, and my sausage fingers can't tell much difference to my Mitutoyo dial calipers. Using the wheel is smoot, but it will take some time for me to get used to using the digital readout for small movements. It looks like the maximum gap in the jaws when closed is at or less than a tenth. Not bad at all! Although I would have liked to have auto on and auto off, for the money, these calipers are a really, really good value. They seem durable, but time will tell. I have a Mitutoyo6" dial, a Starrett 6" dial, a 12" Mit dial, and a 24" Starrett vernier. It seems just as good in action and accuracy as any of them.

I like the compact size of 4 inch caliper and big battery is nice.
I have been using 5 inch vernier non-digital calipers (a modern/cheap knockoff and vintage German one) at home and I have access to a 6 inch digital caliper (PEC tools) at work. I love vernier calipers for woodworking because no worries about low battery or dust. They are easy to handle, light weight (only 87g), and cheap, but they are not easy to read, and only good for rough measurements. I purchased this iGaging 4 inch digital caliper for my woodworking. For example, I was testing my new table saw sled for accuracy and much easier to read off the number on the screen than trying to read vernier scale. It is heavier (147 g), but I still like the compact size of it (note: 6 inch digital caliper weights 162g). The iGaging brand is a better quality than really cheap digital caliper brands and I like the larger battery size too. I probably store it without the case in my top workbench drawer for easy access, and won't treat it like some precious jewelry - I would have bought Mitsutoyo for that. I think this caliper will fit my needs perfectly.
