Well padded, large enough for foundational quarter horse
Very well made - use on my senior quarter horse to line drive to provide variety, some days riding , some days line driving. Using it with my western saddle blanket.

Just what I needed.
This is a really well made surcingle. It was a nice surprise to get it and find both girth and upper portion with the rings all fleece. The picture doesn't show it that way. The buckles and straps are not thin nylon, but are a little hard sometimes to get the prong into the hole on the belt part. Other than that it's a great surcingle. I would recommend this to anyone. Especially for the price.

too big for normal sized horses
I bought this surcingle thinking that it would fit my Paint. She's a normal QH size, just under 1200 pounds. This surcingle swims on her. It would work for a big warmblood/draft horse but I've also tried it on several other, average sized horses and even with it snugged up to the last hole, it was barely tight enough to stay on.Also, the clips on my long lines require at least a 1 3/4" inside diameter on the surcingle rings, and these are smaller than that. To use it, I have to feed my lines through backwards, which is challenging at best, and can be unsafe depending on the horse. And the last thing I found was that when tightening the girth, the straps don't slide easily as the metal hole reinforcements hang up against the buckle. If you've got a cinchy or green horse you are working with, this will definitely make your job more challenging--and potentially dangerous.Bottom line: you get what you pay for. I wouldn't bother with this surcingle unless your horse is big, and not cinchy. For trainers like me, who deal with green and problem horses: this is not the surcingle you want. Spend a little more and get yourself a leather one that you can use for the next 20 years.

This picture is misleading. There is no sheepskin like padding on the product despite this also being the image on the label. Product has a padding made of cheaper black fleece

Unsafe product, do not use - I wish I had forked out more money for a real surcingle
At first glance this is a sturdy, well made surcingle, especially for the price. The one that arrived was all black and looked nothing like the photo, which is fine. What's not ok and has turned into a safety issue is that there is no leather or elastic in this surcingle. What that means is that the surcingle doesn't grip the horse, and will slide all over the place during use. This product is not as pictured and is very unsafe for horses. I have two very hot dressage horses, I intended to use this for lunging during the rainy season in California but after one use it's apparent this cheaply made product won't hold its position on the horse and is dangerous.Extremely annoyed and disappointed.

Works for me
After reading several reviews, I decided on this surcingle. I was concerned that it would not be big enough for my 1500 lb. draft cross. The size is perfect: plenty of holes on either end. It "might" be a bit big for a 1000 lb horse. My guess would be 1200 on up. I'm pleased with the quality. My instructor really tightens it more than I think is necessary and the metal grommets around the holes bend. If she does this too many times they will not hold up. If you feel it needs to be as tight as a girth on a saddle, maybe you should pick a leather product. That is the only reason I gave it a four star. I'm really happy with it. If the grommets fall out, I'll just change the holes.

Big enough to fit my tall Thoughorbred!
Finally, a large enough surcingle that fits my 17.2 hh horse! This product looks like it will hold up well under daily use, especially since it's made from the same strong nylon as used in halters.

fabulous
lots of options… easy to use… i did swap out and am using my girth…. too many brass holes on the one provided… making it hard to tighten….
