Excellent supplementary intro reader
I used this in tandem with Athenaze Book I for an Introductory Greek class. Along with adapted passages from Classical authors, it has an expansive glossary in the back with accompanying word lists for each reading.

This is a good reader to pair with Anne Groton's "From Alpha to Omega." The format is like "38 Latin Stories." It gives extended readings that reinforce the grammar of the textbook. One thing I like about this book is that its readings contain vocabulary which the user of "Alpha to Omega" won't yet have seen: it is good for students of Greek to learn early that nearly any text that they take up will contain vocabulary that is unfamiliar.

Everything I was expecting and more!
I am trying to learn the ancient greek language. This book is great for me now, but I also feel it would have been good from the start of my studies. I believe it will continue to be useful as I advance.

Solid additional reading
I have no major complaints. This is a solid collection of one page long stories to increase vocabulary exposure to Ancient Greek. The vocab and grammar are varied and graded allowing for a gradual build up. This is definitely not a stand alone resource, but a good supplement to be used with a full course book (Alpha to Omega is its full companion, but I read this after Athenaze). In general I like readings to be a little longer than a page at a time, but the one page format allows for a sense of accomplishment.

It helps one review their Attic Greek.
Because I refuse to give up on my year of college Attic Greek, I need to constantly keep practicing.

Great as a companion to Groton's textbook
One of the most irritating things about making your start with a language if having nothing to read that is one the one hand decipherable and on the other hand challenging. With a language like Greek, this is particularly bothersome: While you can find dual language books aplenty with original texts, it's hard to find something dialed back for a beginning learner. Groton's 46 Classical Stories in Greek fits the bill with one caveat: To get the most out of it, you should be using her Alpha to Omega textbook. In Groton's textbook, men...de comes up early, as does the future infinitive. If you're doing the reader with Groton's text, you get to see these new structures right away in use. If you're doing something like Teach Yourself Greek, of course, you'll encounter many structures in a different order. If you want to learn Classical Greek and start reading right away, the combination of Groton's textbook and Reader are great for the autodidact. If you're looking for a general reader, you might prefer something like Freeman and Lowe that requires a bit more background to start but doesn't assume the specific background that comes with Groton.

good companion to Groton's main textbook
This set of readings is designed to accompany Groton's main introductory textbook in Ancient Greek ("From Alpha to Omega")with one reading designed as an additional supplemental reading to each lesson of the textbook, so the readings are graded with increasingly difficult grammatical contents. The footnotes on facing page of each reading supply explanations for vocabulary and grammar not yet covered in the textbook. For those who are not using the textbook (or a different text), a full glossary is provided, but there are some words missing from that and since many books present grammar in different order it may not be as useful as a companion volume to some other text.It is a good review reader for anyone who has completed any introductory text. The selections are wide ranging and interesting.

Not a bad book. Great for the beginner
Not a bad book. Great for the beginner, or something to keep in the bathroom magazine rack. Unfortunately, great stories and literary works are gruesomely lopped into short excerpts not meant to be read in one sitting.
