This fabric book is so cute, and my grandbaby will absolutely love this!
I made this fabric book for my granddaughter. My sewing skills are still at a beginner level, and in the photos I hadn't quite finished the embroidery border that I'm putting on it.My biggest problem has been that I didn't get the pages to line up exactly. So my book is just slightly wonky in that I had to embroider around the frame twice to get the stitch lines covered. It's a rooky mistake for sure, but I don't think the baby will care.I didn't follow the directions precisely. I actually changed mine up and embellished it just a little. I didn't follow the directions for sewing this, and instead sewed it inside out and turned it, leaving a small gap at the bottom to sew closed. I did this for a few reasons.I used a higher pile quilting batting for the outside cover, and a thin batting for the inside pages. I think the directions have you sew fleece in between the pages.I wanted to add sensory tags for the baby, and you can see that I did. I don't know if they are as nice looking as they could have been as it was my first time doing that. Next time I may try to make that more consistent. I will say if you do add sensory tags make sure that you stitch them closed so that baby doesn't get their fingers caught in them!I also added an applique duck and heart for touch spots for the baby. My granddaughter is duck crazy and everything is a "duck, duck". I love it. I raise ducks, so this girl loving the ducks makes me happy. In the middle pages I put crinkle paper inside to make it more interesting for her. I know those are going to be her favorite pages. She will love the sound element.I added "Love from Nana" on the book because I do that on all the things I make for my grandbabies. I also added her name and the year on the back of the book, but I'm not really happy with how that came out. If I were doing it again I would handpaint that with acrylics.
