This necklace is beautiful, and the sterling thistles are nice and thick, but the center stone is plastic, not amethyst.I had to polish mine lightly and the "stone" became cloudy, which absolutely would NOT happen to a genuine amethyst. I am a jeweler, so I know. It's a shame, because amethyst is a native stone of Scotland and a genuine amethyst would look gorgeous in this necklace!

I am very pleased with this pendant. The description did not include information as to the size of the stone, and it is a little smaller than I thought it would be, but overall very pretty, well made, and the chain does feels sturdy. I am very happy with this purchase!
