Science Comics: Polar Bears: Survival on the Ice

This book is not what I expected for my kids - very gory and unnecessary for children!
My boys are 7 and 8 and we all found this book to be quite disturbing with all the killing of baby seals as if it's a joke. I am not impressed and would not recommend to young children. We have other Science Comics that are fine, but very disappointed in this one.

I absolutely love the Science Comics series
These books are awesome. They are approachable to 8-13yr olds while still being informative to adults. And this Polar Bear one is particularly funny, too!

If you bought “I dissent” you must buy this book
The story and illustrations were not only educational but hysterical. Epic. Jason Viola must be a riot in person because his writing makes all ages laugh....and learn.

Highly accurate scientifically
Extremely well told with insights gained by Jonkel and Sterling who did comprehensive studies of polar bears. Highly entertaining, couldn't put it down!

Very educational, but very accessible.
My 8 year old son has fallen in love with these. I tried introducing him to the science and nature junior magazines, but they don't hold his attention. He loves reading comics, but can struggle with the next step up. These however, are just right for him. Most have interesting storylines, following characters as they go on to describe everything about the topic. After reading this one my son came up to be asking me to guess how large a polar bears territory is (around 78000 kilometers squared I believe!) and numerous other facts.
