Greatly improves stability
This bar greatly improves the stability of the ladder. It also provides a way to stand off from the vertical wall so that you can work on the fascia boards. The standoff distance is adjustable and fairly easy to move. Taking the bar off and on the ladder is simple but time consuming because you have to run four wing nuts quite a distance. With the bar on, the ladder will not go down all the way so back ladder has rungs halfway between the front ladder rungs and is probably a position to avoid. Pay attention to the directions when installing the standoff pieces. I would also add fender washers under the wing nuts here. For my ladder the U-bolt threads stopped too soon so it was not tight. I added over-sized nuts and some fender washers to allow a tight fit. Measure and draw a mark where U-bolts need to go so it will be easily centered for every install. I really enjoy the stability of this extension bar when working up high.

Works as expected
Easy to assemble and attach to a ladder, great value. No issues encountered.

Works as advertised.
Setup is easy, the directions are on the outside of the box, so don't just rip the box apart when unpacking. :) It works great for spanning windows, and having the ability to adjust the distance to the wall/roof is truly great compared to fixed distance standoff/stabilizers. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the black foot inserts that come in contact with walls. Maybe it's my bad for painting the house first and then the trim, but as I've read in other reviews and unfortunately found out myself, they leave black scuff marks on the work no matter how careful you are placing the ladder on the wall. After finding the first set of marks, I used Werner bumper covers over the feet and that worked a treat. For the price, this product worked well.

This is BETTER than I thought!
I don't hesitate to write a less than stellar review when I am disappointed with a product.... and so it is only fair that I give KUDOS when a product arrives and it is better than expected. This stabilizer is very light weight.... but very strong and sturdy! It is really fast and simple to attach to the ladder and even quicker to remove. It is adjustable as to how far from the wall you need the ladder to be held. Our new kitchen cabinets were installed before I could finish the drywall patching and painting above the upper cabinets. A step ladder could not get close enough because of the lower cabinets and the extension ladder would rest on the upper cabinets before making contact with the wall above. This was the PERFECT remedy.I had looked at several stabilizers online and they seem 'limited' to holding the ladder about 7" from the wall. Heck... this thing is very adaptable. I used it on one of those heavy 'Gorilla' ladders, the ones with the splayed ends. It attaches perfectly and adds almost no noticeable weight to the top of the ladder. This was the perfect solution for me and it stores compactly back in the box for the next time it will be needed. Good product, good value!

Safety!, Almost perfect, must have....for exterior painting
I"m a DIY painting a 1 story 24' house exterior trim, this really helps about 4' wide makes the ladder very stable at 24' high. I use 80lb of sandbags on the bottom rung of my ladder and I feel pretty safe. I had to use a grinder and various sanders to deal with 40 yr old paint on wood and metal grates. This made the difference. You can adjust the distance away from the siding or wall which also helps. closer for under the eaves, and farther for vertical surfaces. I wish you could reduce the width for lower areas at the corner but that would probably make it less sturdy. It has sharp edges so you can get cut. Last thing, makes your ladder a tad top heavy and tough to move around gates, that's nit picking though....

basic no frills, yet reliable and strong.
stability is key to avoid accidental falls. This does provide extra stability. In addition, the spacing depth is superb. Prevents fascia and gutter damage if used properly. Good product

Works on Telesteps, but is very fiddley...
Update:The product is performing fine, but the tiny wingnuts provided to secure the bolts are a PITA to use. The solution is to order these large wingnuts that can easily be operated.https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DVHHQH8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1Your day will go better. :-)Overall, the product is of good quality and does what it's supposed to do. But, since it's a universal fit, it requires some fiddling to install.Pros:* Light - it's aluminum and very light* Sturdy - no issues with stability or holding weight well* The rubber feet do not slip on house siding* With patience, works on Telesteps extension laddersCons:* Overpriced for 3 pieces of aluminum and two U-bolts. IMO this is a $39.95 item.* The U-bolt attachment method won't let Telestep rungs extended above the bracket retract because the U-bolts interfere with the safety catches underneath the rungs. The bracket must be removed each time you want to fully collapse the ladder.* The rubber feet leave black rubber skid marks on painted surfaces. This could have been avoided by using white rubber.* It's awkward to install each time juggling two U-bolts, two spacers, and 4 wing nuts, all while holding the ladder in position.Overall, it solved my problem because it was cheaper than buying (and storing) another ladder for only occasional use. Under these circumstances it was worth the hassles that I outlined above. However, the manufacturer needs to fix the black skid marks issue.

Did the job
The nut goes in the inside of the tube.Be careful of the extra weight, even though it's only a few pounds, throws the balance off making it a little harder to balance. It works great
