Ghirardelli Sweet Ground Chocolate & Cocoa Sauce 85.9 Ounce with Ghirardelli Pump and Spoon

I tried this for a month and didn't find it different enough from my standard breakfast mix (4 shots expresso, 2 pumps of chocolate, 2 pumps of caramel & frothed milk) to justify keeping it on my countertop. It's also much more difficult to get into solution than the chocolate. Other than that, it's a great product.BOTTOM LINE: If you are creating a similar mix to mine and you're looking for a hint of cocoa flavor, then I highly recommend it.

The good: chocolate tastes good.The bad: everything else- not sure if I got a bad batch but it is very solid inside the bottle. Barely any comes out without pumping for several pumps. When I open the bottle and look in the sides have solidified with the chocolate in the middle very thick and moves slow- may be related to above, but I use in coffee to make mocha. The chocolate doesn't melt well and mix. I have a nice steam mixer which other chocolate syrups work well with. This one just sits on the bottom and doesn't mix well even when the milk is around 150 degreesWill be avoiding this chocolate mix going forward.

I had the dark chocolate version prior to this and while it was good, it didn't quite fit the flavor profile I wanted for coffee. The Sweet Ground Chocolate and Cocoa Sauce is perfect. I mix this with a little cream before adding my coffee and I can skip the added sugar completely. This sauce isn't that sweet, but it is semi-sweet and very rich. Not unlike name brand coffee. Really uplifts your coffee experience quite nicely. No problem with the pump after about 30 days.

The syrup is fabulous, but the pump continues to either clog or come apart. It’s very irritating and I’ve lost quite a bit of syrup in the process.

To my pleasant surprise the syrup is not as sweet as I thought, perfect to use it for a mocha. It has more cocoa flavor than the 16oz Ghirardelli Chocolate Premium Sauce I bought before which has a stronger chocolate flavor. I was reluctant to buy the 16oz squeeze bottle again because the bottle has a poor design in my own opinion. The plastic is thick and hard to squeeze when the product is more than 1/2 way consumed. More than once I squeezed too hard and the cap just popped making a mess. Switching back to this 5lb+ syrup, I had no problem with the pump that a few people complained about...maybe I'm lucky. The only minus so far is this is one big jug of syrup. It would take me a long time to finish it. Anyway, I'm just nitpicking as the size is clearly shown on Amazon so I knew exactly what I'm getting into. To sum everything up I think this large bottle of syrup is a good value and taste as good, if not better than other chocolate syrup I've tried, including Ghirardelli's own chocolate sauce.

Tastes great

Bought for a sundae bar for graduation. Was afraid it wouldn’t be enough but we had a bunch left. I’ve kept it in the refrigerator & I haven’t had any mold like some people said they have had.

This container doesn’t say that this needs to be stored in the refrigerator so we left it on our counter for a month. Last month I used some on ice cream and I figured it tasted a little funky, but never put two into together. Recently the container was clogged so we took the spout out and oh my god there’s green fuzzy mold all over it! It’s disgusting and I can’t believe we’ve been eating this for close to a month. Very clearly this needs to be refrigerated which makes zero sense because it’s super hard to get in and out of the fridge and that makes it harder to dispense . Maybe don’t buy such a big one and transfer it to smaller containers. The spout is gross AF after a few weeks.
