This product is a cast product and is extremely durable. It comes painted with a weather proofing paint to extend the life of the product. It can be used for coal or wood which makes it useful but in general I will burn wood.Very happy with the product. Four starred it though due to the instruction being a little difficult to understand but after an hour I got there and I was happy.

I've never written a review of a product in my entire adult life so that gives an idea of the how much effort i've gone through just to write this.The chiminea is aesthetically appealing (from what I can tell by looking at it's individual parts) but assembling the item was impossible. The fittings on the base of the chiminea aren't measured correctly and therefore you're left trying to jam the bolts into place which just isn't possible. As I've opened with, i'm not one to complain but on this occasion I felt obligated to, the product isn't cheap so the least you'd expect is correct measurements.

I only just built it today - a gift from my kids so very pleased. I have yet to use it so can't comment on that as yet. However.....I knocked a star off for the very poor instructions. Some reviews are saying that it doesn't go together well - that's not strictly true. But there are several very similar parts that go in specific places and so there's loads of room to mess up. It took me a couple of hours to build it, but with better instructions it would have been half that. Supplier please take note and you will get better feedback. Happy overall however.

Lovely, heavy cast iron, just what we wanted

The chiminea arrives on a palette and needs assembling. This isn't that easy as the burner section is in 2 halves which don't line up very well. This leaves gaps around the circular burning section. When lit is seems to produce more smoke than fire and the damping device is a bit hit and miss. I wouldn't use it for BBQing because of the smoke - it comes supplied with stainless steel grill for this purpose. I have a clay chiminea but unfortunately it cracked but still burns - for how much longer I'm not sure. This was meant to be a replacement but the clay one puts out far more heat. The iron one has started to rust so I should have got a cover for it - but I liked the look of this chiminea and it seems a waste to cover it up. I've bought some fire black and hopefully this it a low cost solution to the problem and it keeps the iron looking good.
