Window Safety Grills With Hinges.
Very sturdy product. I chose the grills with hinges instead of stationary grills, which allows them to swing open and provide a window egress in case of an emergency. Written installation instruction were a little vague, but the accompanying pictures helped a lot. I did find that it makes it a lot easier to put up if there are two people to install them rather than just one person. I would suggest, however, using regular Phillips head screws instead of the one way screws that came with the product. That way, the grills can be removed if they are no longer needed.

100% Satisfied. Easy to install.
Superior quality, easy to install. Great safety device and opens quickly in the event of an emergency. The screws are one way screws that cannot be removed without a special tool. You may want to consider this prior to installation. Very heavy duty construction.

A little more protection
We have basement windows and I purchased a couple of these for a little additional security. To lock it down i used a small master lock. Very solid!

Installation problem was hard to understand
We had to return this because we did not have enough wood on the sides of the window frame to hold the screws. This can only be installed with the screws sideways to the sides of the window frame, and you need thick wood to back the woodwork trim to hold the screws, especially because of the feature that allows the guard to swing open inwards so people can get out in an emergency. For our situation it turned out the the upper half of the window provided an acceptable escape route, so we could use fixed guards on the bottom. The fixed guards can be installed on the outer part of the window frame, where in our case there is plenty of wood for the screws to go into, with screws directed from the inside of the room pointing toward the house exterior. This was an easy return, but my advice is save the packaging until you have completed the installation, in case you need to return this for the fixed version of the guard. I gave three stars because I had to read a lot of reviews to understand the situation with the screws, and even then I had to look at the actual (very nice) product and read the installation instructions, which were a little tricky to understand.

almost perfect
my only complaint is the screws are the kind you can't remove after you put them in. tamper proof. I don't want these up forever only until the toddler grows up. So I put new screws on. I don't think a toddler can get a screw driver to remove long screws and take down this guard to get out a window.

DO NOT BUY THIS SHODDY PRODUCT. WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY.
Doesn't come with all the required parts! I've returned it and received an identical product, also missing parts. I can't install it. And the instructions are horribly vague! Horrible product.EDIT AUGUST 27: We've installed it by screwing it to the outside of the windows, IN THE MOLDING, since there's no holes to mount on the inside of the window and NO SPACER BARS INCLUDED! The Amazon description is a LIE. DO NOT BUY THIS. It looks gaudy and prison-like in my daughter's room. Some of the screws provided broke off and into the wall while installing. SO CHEAPLY MADE. NOT WORTH THE $70+ FOR TWO WINDOWS. My landlord should love that there's now SCREWS broken off and stuck in our walls! IF I COULD GIVE THIS 0 OR EVEN NEGATIVE STARS, I WOULD.

Works perfectly for kids
I got this to keep my son safe. He has no danger awareness and is rough and has body slammed windows. We got this for his bedroom to prevent the ability for him to go through the second story window. They work great however I suggest you use your own screws so you can take it out.
