Damascus Steel Bone and Walnut Sword

SCROLL DOWN FOR PROS/CONS----------------------------------------So let's start with the Good.The sword arrived quickly and well-packaged. Blade was in great condition, and came with an actual edge on it. It has good weight and decent balance to it, and is a fine addition to my collection.However, now we skip the Bad and go straight to the Ugly.This is NOT real damascus steel. It has been acid washed to give the look of damascus. In the pictures, you can see that parts did not get etched, which is what gave it away. While I do know that new sheaths need to be broken in, the sword practically has to be forced inside, and pulled out with some force, which concerns me for a leather sheath. Also, the entire sword came covered in a very thick coating of oil that was very hard to get off of the handle. Wiped off the blade easily enough but there's still an oily residue on the wood handle hours later. It seemed to have been sprayed on previous to shipping.《《TL;DR》》----------------------------------------Pros:- Full tang- Good weight- Pre-sharpened- Leather sheath included- Good for slashingCons:- NOT REAL DAMASCUS STEEL- Incredibly oily upon delivery- Sheath is a VERY tight fit- Excessive pinning on handle (small gold pins near blade end of handle - there are 5 other pins and the loophole on the end, these 5 only serve to make the blade weak in that spot)- A bit heavy for a sword of its size----------------------------------------All said and done, you get what you paid for, a decent, if a bit heavy, blade that LOOKS like damascus. I'd still praise it as a shortsword, but under these circumstances it's far outweighed by the negatives.Unlikely to ever buy from this seller again, unfortunately, as they were not honest in the product description and receiving an unreasonably oily blade is upsetting, to say the least ((the oil will get everywhere, fyi - phone, pants, anything you even touch hours after holding this blade)). If they removed the etching, additional handle pins and oil and just sold this as is, it would sell very well I feel.2☆ rating because the seller was dishonest and sold an overall lackluster product. I would not recommend this merchant to anyone, ever, as this was a rather unpleasant and offputting experience overall.

I returned it. It's okay as a display piece, but definitely not actual Damascus steel and should not be advertised as such.

The marble look is made by folding metal, not painted on. Total fake, DO NOT BUY
