Great fitment for 2010 BMW 335i Sedan / E90!
Recently, I've been getting an SES light with an 2A1A Tank ventilation system code. I've been noticing a poor seal with the gas cap gasket getting progressively worse (tried flipping it over and that helped for a bit). Time for replacement. After reading several reviews on this item, I was a little concerned about fitment and authenticity of the item. In the past I've received cheap, knock-off products that were not OEM/BMW so now I try to order BMW parts from "BMW" sellers on Amazon when possible (Used BMW MINI of San Francisco here if you need a recommendation). Anyway, after receiving this product I quickly realized that much of the cap is different from the blue color gasket to the lack of a "BMW" logo on the cap itself. It is much more lighter and feels a little cheap honestly. I was a little concerned but that quickly went away after actually using it. The seal is leaps and bounds better than the previous cap. The cord attaches to the cap by a rotating collar. Nifty. I did a little research and apparently this is the new design. My cap came with packaging and the label BMW part # 16 11 7 222 391. Looks legit to me. Overall, it seems a like a quality product.EDIT: My SES light went off for a few days, but came back. I had a BMW technician look at it and he found another problem: the fuel tank ventilation valve. This is about a $70 item and fairly simple fix. Oh well. The gas cap needed to be changed anyway due to the poor seal and design.

Fits well
The package shows BMW genuine logo, not sure if the part is though. But it fits well my BMW X5

Works for BMW 128i
Agree with other reviews to get the genuine BMW gas cap for CEL. Had code P0440 and P0442. Tried a cheaper gas cap that was compatible but not OEM and CEL light didn’t go away. Bought BMW gas cap and CEL is now gone. As others note, there isn’t a click but you can tell the gas cap is tight. Worth the extra money since it fixed CEL.

The car knows!
My car failed inspection bc it knew it was an imitation gas cap. I went to BMW paid the $48 and car is now happy. Do not waste your $25 here.

OEM Part so it works as designed
Purchased this for a 2006 BMW X3. The little tether on ours had broken and it was annoying my wife (even though she drives a newer X5). So keep her happy and ensure that one of my teenagers did loose the fuel cap I purchased a new one. This is an OEM product and purchased through a dealer in California who sells on Amazon. The shipment was prompt, well packed and received timely to the Midwest with no issues. It installed and fit as expected being an OEM part. Only variation is that the original cap had a green gasket around the edge and this one did not.
