Delicious, Nutritious, and Easy to Prepare!
These Black Beluga Lentils are simply wonderful! Not only are they incredibly tasty with a rich, nutty flavor, but they’re also a breeze to prepare. I love that they cook in just 20 minutes without any need for soaking, making them a quick and convenient addition to any meal. Whether I’m adding them to soups, salads, or casseroles, they always hold their shape and add a delicious depth of flavor. The nutritional value is impressive too, with a generous amount of protein, fiber, and essential minerals in every serving. I also appreciate the sustainable packaging – the linen drawstring bags are a nice touch and reflect the quality of the product. Knowing these lentils are non-GMO, vegan, and sourced from a trusted farm in Montana makes me feel great about adding them to my pantry. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a healthy and delicious staple!

Great for spouting. Pretty much a 100% sprouting rate
I bought these lentils for the sole purpose of sprouting them. I have never sprouted lentils before and have not tried any other brand of black lentils. I decided to sprout lentils because it takes too long to cook lentils. I also heard that spouted lentils have way more nutrients than non sprouted ones. I have been sprouting broccoli seeds for 7+ years now. Sprouting lentils is the same process only less time. To sprout lentils, soak a heaping tablespoon of lentils in a 16oz mason jar half filled with cold tap water for 12 hours. Then drain and rinse them a few times with a sprouting lid on. Finally. lean the drained jar upside down at a 15-20 degree angle so the excess water can drain out. If you stand the jar vertically, the water will not completely drain out despite the lid having holes in them. This will start the rotting process which you don't want. Keep rinsing and draining every 12 hours. By the 4th day, your lentils are ready to eat. Unlike broccoli sprouts that have a higher non sprouting rate, these lentils have a 99.999% sprouting rate. I've only experienced one single lentil that did not sprout out of about 20 times of sprouting them. I recommend this brand and I am planning to buy a larger sized bag when I run out.

Delicious lentils - if you overlook that the whole bag spilled out into the shipping box
This is my second time ordering these lentils. The first time went smoothly, and the lentils were delicious - so delicious in fact that I ate all four pounds and needed to order more. This time, the lentils arrived loose in the box spilling out of its edges even before I got the box open. This would be a minor annoyance if I could receive a replacement to compensate me for the hassle of vacuuming lentils from my floor and moving the remaining lentils to a more suitable container. (Of course, there's also the fact that I have no idea what these lentils have touched - did a rat gnaw the bag open? Should I still eat them?) But when I click 'return or replace' it simply informs me that this item cannot be returned, with no other options. I tried going to the seller feedback page and clicked the link to contact Amazon about delivery problems, but whoops, it looks like that link was broken. This may be a one-off experience, but I thought I'd give others fair warning that you may receive a completely busted open (though presumably still delicious!) bag of lentils and if you do, it will be a headache to try to receive any sort of replacement or compensation.

Black Lentils aka Beluga | 4 LB |
TBH I have not been disappointed with any of the products from this vendor (Palouse Brand and Clear Creek Foods) . The black lentils were as described and did not disappoint me at all. It was a delicious treat to have them (since my local stores here don't often carry this type of lentil.)A word about the company: I will continue to order from this company. They have everything from split-pea, Lentis, wheat berries, chickpeas, etc., all Non-GMO and Kosher. If you have a large family, they also have larger sizes too. Peace!
