Did the trick
Easy to install. Cardboard template made sawing the correct size hole a breeze. Aluminum will not rust and is lightweight. Fits 5" gutter nicely. I like the brass cross bolt that holds the rain chain. The fittings are convenient and eady to remove to attach chain on either side. Works as described and expected. Nice look.

works for easy rain chain install
Thank you, Amazon for providing accurate gutter adapter dimensions. Manufacturer assumes that the installation of the gutter adapter is replacing downspout outlet and does not provide any dimensions or installation instructions related to modifying a gutter for installing the gutter adapter. Our installation of a rain chain was a new outlet in a 5" steel gutter. For installing in a 5in gutter the provided base plate needs 1/4" of flange remove to sit flush. A 2" bimetal hole saw is required to cut the proper diameter thru hole in the gutter. Not only using sealant calk, but I also recommend adding 4, 1/8" dia x 1/4"L rivets to secure the adapter base plate then sealing the rivets. The combined weight of the adapter assembly and 8 1/2' chain is not excessive. If installing greater than 48" away the nearest gutter hanger an additional hanger should be installed adjacent to the desired outlet location for supporting the gutter. This install is a more aesthetically appealing than a downspout at the front door of our home.

You need to convert to a rain chain
I have ordered a couple of these. You will need this converter if you convert your downspout to a rain chain. Its easiy to install in the typical area where your downspout comes down from your gutter. You need to caulk the adaptor to your gutter and then hang your rain chain to it.

Larger adapter plate very helpful!
This Monarch rain chain install kit was just what I needed for my older gutters. The adapter piece on its own was not big enough to cover the shape and size of my gutter outlet so I put the larger plate through the top hat and glued them together with roof cement then dropped it through the gutter outlet and sealed in place. Kudos to the Monarch manufacturer for furnishing different size plates. I also like that the material is powder coated aluminum because the copper type would cause a corrosive reaction.
