Dehydrated food is the go to if you’re camping hiking canoeing. Taste good very simple to make.
Freeze dried food is great for camping, hiking canoeing, etc. It’s sealed it can’t get wet, it’s very light, it’s quick and easy to make, and it taste great. It needs no refrigeration. Try some.

Pretty good...
A bit on the spicy side and kind of one-note in overall flavor, but I appreciated the extra textural component of the peanuts, and it was about on par with a Pad Thai one would find in the freezer section of your local supermarket. I would get it again for camping food.

One of my favorite backcountry meals!
So my all time favorite is the Chicken Pad Thai from Backpacker's pantry - IT IS SO GOOD! But honestly this is just as good, it just doesn't have the chicken.I love these because they have these sauces and toppings you can add that are all included in the bag and it makes me feel fancy when I'm out on the trail haha. But seriously, these are delicious and VERY filling. My husband and I usually split one. I put mine into a little insulated coozie bag things so it stays hot while soaking, also usually soak a little bit longer than it says. Highly advise mixing it once or twice while soaking, it seems to blend the flavors better, prevents powdery chunks on the bottom, and helps to evenly hydrate everything.

Im sorry, This was not for us.
Doesn't taste like Pad Thai we are familiar with. We made both pouches and let them sit in the pouch for the same time, but one was oddly more liquid than the other. The consistency of both was very watery and the peanut butter flavor is lost. The noodles are weirdly small like the little ones in liptons chicken noodle soup. The flavors were more spanish tasting. Strong lime and tomato. It was overall like a salsa soup. And it's quite spicy like Sichuan chili oil. It says two servings per pouch, buy we each ate a whole pouch each. Wasn't wasted, just not our favorite.

The best dehydrated meal I’ve ever had
Like the title says, it’s the best one out there. I’ve done plenty of backpacking and have eaten a lot of mountain house meals back in the day. I eventually switched to packaging my own meals because I just had a hard time enjoying dehydrated food, the texture and consistently was never really there and the flavor was always just off. Fast forward ten years later and I’m willing to give some prepackaged meals a shot again out of ease of use, curiosity and nostalgia. Ended up with a few different brands and options, and first of all freeze dried meals in general have come a long way in the last ten years. I was pretty impressed with everything but the one that stood head and shoulders above the rest was the pad Thai. I mean maybe I was just starving but I remember using the phrase “restaurant quality” at the time and being just overall blown away. I have since ordered some more to try it again, but if it tastes as good at home as it did in the hills then I’ll be keeping some home year round.

Being regular on the trail is one thing - but keep the TP on hand and your backpack on quick release!!!
You may want to try this tasty and easy to prepare backpacking meal BEFORE hitting the trail. While my wife found this meal tasty and easy on her stomach while on the trail, it caused both myself and my daughter pretty extreme gastroenterolgical distress- while an MRE will stop you up for days -- this was the opposite. Being regular on the trail is one thing, but this was not cool. And to answer the next question, the meal was prepared with the remaining municipal water we had on hand before switching to treated water, so no, we didn't pick up a bug from our water. I have a rep for having an iron gullet, so a few days later while camping in Yellowstone, I tried another one (my wife and daughter opted for Annie Mac) again, with municipal water. Luckily for me, the geyser's sulfurous emissions masked most of mine, and I kept a roll of TP in my pocket for my frequent dashes into the woods. The rest of the meals we had bought went into the bin, and I'll be sticking with my tried and true backpacking food from now on!!!!

I heard this was the best (vegetarian) flavor. It is.
This is pretty bangin’ pad Thai for freeze dried meal. I bought like 10 of em because I will not be upset if I have to eat this for several days straight. It actually tastes like pad Thai, good pad Thai. There are joints near my house I’ve ordered pad Thai from and it hasn’t been as good as this (maybe that’s saying more about my local offerings than the product here but still). I work a lot and am recently back after destroying my dominant wrist and my partner is disabled in her dominant hand so this is a quick and low effort yet satisfying meal solution that I can whip up for us easily on those days when we’re both just exhausted. Was stoked to find a tasty vegetarian option for freeze dried / quick shelf stable meals.
