for price/performance, i think its the best one you can get..
i had RX-V775 for the last 6 years and it was good for every purpose.. it had 4k , 5hdmi in, 2 hdmi out etc etc..why i moved to this? it has 4k hdr10 support (it says its a future update via firmware update , i made the latest update, it have it now).sound quality is very good, extra bass, ypao auto speaker calibration is perfect.. it automatically detects your speaker size, distance, cable quality, resistance etc.. and calculates the parameters automatically..interestingly, it changes normal satellite film's audio output.. when you watch commercial ads, music comes from different speakers, voice comes from another speaker set, and bass sounds on woofer.. normally you expect only stereo but its different.. i was impressed..the plastic materials (ex: volume knob) seems very cheap if compared to rx-v775.. when you roll it, if feels that you may break it if you press a little bit more..the display is quite enough for information.. you can get all information about whats going on..connection, pairing was very easy.. just press connect button on avr about 5 seconds.. then open musiccast app.. they get paired immediately.. and it asks the wifi password..(if you are using wifi instead of ethernet cable) bam.. thats it.. device is connected to internet..the musiccast application is a little bit complex and confusing (it seems easy to use, but not)..on rx-v775 i was using "av controller" app, it was very easy to control and see what are the settings..again you can use av controller ap, but inside the app, it opens musiccast app and its not as easy as the previous.. it is not easy to find a setting in it.. but i think i get used to previous , and it will take time to absorbe the feature locations :)earc (enhenced Audio Return Channel) is impressive.. if you have some other devices already connected to your tv's hdmi inputs, you can get their audio from this device easily.. there are some small problems with LG tvs.. when you shutdown both using a intelligent remote, i have harmony 650, if avr shuts before tv, next time lg forgets arc connection and returns to internal speakers as output, but this is not the problem of avr.. its because of LG..about the output voltage.. its 110volts.. only 110.. i am using it in europe.. is 220volts here.. :)) so about 600watt 110-200 transformer is enough to convert.. (rx-v775 was 110-240 volt) .. do not plug it if you have other then 110volts in your country..about the refurbished quality.. on the front panel there is no visible stratches etc.. but on top and black plastics parts.. there are visible stratches.. but its ok for me..last words.. i highly recommend it if you are between denon, onkyo and yamaha..better then others in this price range..

This is a Costco version, basically the same as RX-V4A, and sounds amazing
As I said above, this is the RX-V4A, but the version number is changed to sell it at Costco. The specs are the same, the internal parts are interchangeable. I have used both and cannot tell a difference. The only difference in my mind is the cost, this is a little cheaper. I have this with a Definitive Technology speaker set. They sounds best with powerful drivers, and this Yamaha had the best amps that I could find in this range. I only needed the 5.2.2 setup, basic surround with Atmos height speakers. The setup is simple, tell it what setup I want, and then plug in a microphone and it measures the distances of each speaker to adjust the sound. Then, it just works. It gets the name of the HDMI devices automatically. It turns on when the Apple TV turns on, it turns off the same. It controls my TV, and works with the audio return channel.I play music via wifi from my phone. I can connect my bluetooth speakers to it and listen to TV late at night so nobody else hears it.

Fantastic receiver for the money. (Not RX-V4A clone, as others suggest)
Purchased this renewed version to replace an existing TSR-700 that I purchased from Costco which fell off the shelf and suffered functional and cosmetic damage. The receiver appears to be factory renewed from Yamaha, huge plus! I don't see any cosmetic damage on the unit I received. People compare this model to the RX-V4A but the TSR-700 has a Zone 2 function, the RX does not. I use this receiver to play music in my gym and also power patio speakers. Zone 2 enables two sources of audio to be played simultaneously to separate speakers. Zone B on the RX-V4A does not serve the same function.Additionally, I was able to save my configuration from the old receiver to a USB stick and restore the settings to the new machine. Huge time savings!!!!!!!!

User have unplug unit in order for the sound to come up
Sound is great, Video is great except the following:Every day I have to unplug the unit in order for the sound to come up. this is not acceptable since I did not have this problem with VX-485 unit. I did extensive search on the web and found out that most of the users have this problem. I updated the firmware to the latest and the problem still exist. The work around is to buy a power strip with a switch and every morning I press the switch off and on and then the sound will come up.I would not recommend this unit at all unless if you don't mind to do off/on power switch

Very good sound, features, and value. Doesn't really transmit bluetooth. Interface dated and slow.
PROS: Great stereo with lots of features and customization options. I needed a receiver with the Zone 2 feature. Very high value proposition or "bang for the buck." Connects with WiFi or wired. Works well with harmony remote.CONS 1: I was hoping it would transmit bluetooth audio to my wireless headphones. While the hardware does exist to do this, the transmission is blocked due to licensing issues. You can transmit radio or anything from the stereo RCA jacks, but audio coming from HDMI or any other digital audio is blocked. ... so no listening to TV or Movies with wireless headphones. In addition, many headphones will block the reception of bluetooth audio from digital sources. (Sending bluetooth audio to the receiver should work fine in all cases.)CONS 2: The LCD screen is a bit dated looking. Not a big deal.CONS 3: I'm very surprised to see that the system speed when cycling through menu options or turning the volume up/down is slower than my old 2012 Yamaha Avantage 1020. Not too big of a deal though.
