Hiscox STD-AC Guitar Case for Dreadnought STD

Hiscox Cases are the best investment for protecting your guitar. Unless you can afford a custom built case - something like a Calton - then Hiscox cases are the standard by which other guitar cases should be judged. Not long ago I purchased a hard case for one of my guitars which cost £20 less than this Hiscox one and it is inferior in every respect even though it was designed and made specifically for the model of guitar I owned. If you can stretch a bit further than the price of the standard Hiscox cases like this one then their Pro-II cases are even better. A worthwhile investment.

The case arrived very fast and in excellent condition, besides the little few centimeters in between the guitar and the side of the case, it fits quite perfectly and there's padding for the neck and the head and the base of the guitar. The compartment is fairly adequate for all 3 of my capos, 2 packs of strings, a clip on korg tuner, a slide, 2 batteries and some documentation and receipts, and the space between the body and the side of the case is where i put my strap. The padding is alright, not exactly the most royal treatment but it certainly gives good padding underneath the fuzzy layer. Mine came in red but i'm sure they come in both green and red. It has 5 latches, a sturdy handle that doesn't hurt your hand when you carry it (for too long) and can be sat on?

I was overwhelmed by the sheer quality of this case when I took it out of the rather plain looking and ordinary cardboard box. It is stunning. I had been anxious that my Yamaha dreadnought guitar might not fit in the case as it is 141.2 cm wide and the width limit for the case is 141.3 cm, so not much room for error. Fortunately, it fits in perfectly or snugly, whichever way you look at it and it is cosseted in a very attractive light grey velour lining. The outer hard shell is jet black textured plastic, though does not feel plasticky and looks classy with its aluminium rim. The hard shell does not flex at all and seems very strong and the handle is also strong and comfortable to hold. All the fittings and fastenings are heavy duty and have been attached with expert precision. The case weighs about 4kg and the guitar about 2kg, so not too heavy to lug around. The shape of the case has been designed with a lot of curved edges to give maximum comfort when carrying against your body and the whole thing just looks too fabulous for words. This is also probably the most durable guitar case available, affording maximum protection for the guitar.

First class build and worthy of all the praise hiscox gets for its cases. Fits my sigma dreadnought well. Two comments I would make on these case purely for feedback purposes. 1. It needs a raised section above the handle on the top part of the case as it’s really hard to grip the top lid and open it...this would be an easy modification when his ox next review their mouldings. 2. The lid has three h8nges which is great but as a result the lid has a real tendency to drop on your hand if you push the case even moderately back from you....some kind of “stay” would help here or more travel on the hinges and holding strap.

I have several Hiscox Deluxe cases for my guitar collection and also supply them to customers I build guitars for. This is the first Standard case I have bought and while it lacks the depth of padding the Deluxe case has, it is very sturdy with excellent catches and should provide very good protection for your guitar.

A hard-up friend had an old fibre guitar case; it was falling apart. Several of his friends clubbed together to replace it. A semi-professional friend was asked to select one. This case was miles the best - strong, a perfect fit, and made in Britain. It came the day after ordering it, was very well packed, there was no carriage charge. The price was less than other less good products. The recipient is overjoyed. This was as near a perfect transaction as anyone could hope for.

A strong well made case which looks like it could survive a nuclear blast. Has a nice interior, large storage area and good quality clasps.

Arrived in great condition before the expected date. Really impressed. The case is as described and a great product. Very happy customer.
