ALLOMN Portable, Rechargable Hair Clipper for Men: Not too shabby!
The media could not be loaded. The Allomn hair clipper for men is quite the oddity! It has a 360° rotating cutter head with sharp, circular blades and a plastic comb guard for precise and safe results. The handheld cutter has an LED smart display which displays battery percentage, and once used, the amount of time spent using it. Other features include a low battery reminder and a travel lock. The accessories include a cleaning brush (I did not like this little tiny thing at all), a full sized apron, cheap comb, charging cable, and a small bottle of blade oil. It's a cordless, compact unit with a stainless steel trimming head. Water ingress rated at IPX6 means you can quickly rinse the cutter under a tap. Additionally, the USB Type-C fast charging from a PC, laptop or wall socket, ensures a 1.5-hour full charge for 60 minutes of use. The cutter comes with 2 combs that have 3 settings on each comb: 15mm, 17mm and 19mm for longer length cuts, and 5mm, 7mm and 9mm for shorter cuts. The cutter can in fact be used without a comb attached to it for very close cut - stubble mode! If you want anything between 9mm and 15mm, layering or grading then visit your barber. So, what’s it like to use the cutter? Pretty odd! Once the cutter is charged, attach a comb and set the cutting length. Squirt a drop of comb oil onto the blade then turn the cutter on - doing so will tell you how many “Left minutes” (sic) remain in the battery - then place the cutter on your head, sweeping first from the back of your head to the front, then back again; the cutter is quiet in use and cuts well and did not pinch or tug at my hair. After you’ve ‘mown’ your head, you then use a circular motion to clip any tufts that escape the initial sweep. It really was quite straightforward to use. What about the result of the cut? Pretty good! Initially I set the comb to a 7mm cutting length and trimmed my whole head. I raised a mirror behind me to look at the reflection of the back of my head, and noticed lots of wispy bits across the base of my neck’s hairline which did not look very good at all. I then set the comb to 3mm in an attempt to lop off the straggly lengths and straighten my neck hairline, “Uh oh!” …Now, I knew layering wasn’t an option with this cutter, and given the aperture of the comb, I knew it wasn’t going to be able to cut with any great degree of accuracy or be able to achieve fine detailing, but I didn’t quite expect the cutter to gollop up as much as it did, leaving me with a very short patch of bristly hair and the only course of action was to continue trimming at 3mm - well into military buzz-cut territory. It was around this point that I noticed a slight change in the sound of the cutting motor - it was starting to slow down. This wasn’t particularly important by this stage as I had finished trimming. Switching off the cutter gave me some information about the battery and the amount of time I had taken to ‘Mo’ my head - I had “Left minutes” 65 and “Shaved time” (sic) 28 minutes. One thing to note was that by the time I’d finished, my scalp had a gentle throb across it - not in an unpleasant way nor entirely unexpected but it’s just not what I’m used to ... yet.To clean the cutter, Allomn supplies a dinky cleaning brush that is absolutely useless at clearing hair, and I found gently tapping the unit then running my finger around the inside of the cutter did a far better job. The overall build quality isn't too bad but it is lightweight and very plasticky and I wouldn't expect the cutter to withstand being dropped onto a hard surface from head height. Will I continue to use it? Yes! Undoubtedly the cutter is convenient for keeping short hair neat and groomed, saving time visiting the barber, and money too!

Neat and tidy
Bought this to replace 10year old Babaliss version (no longer produced) it does cuts 5mm 7mm 9mm &15 17& 19 1use the 7mm setting it cuts a nice short even finish all over that I require I found the 5 mm was too short very close cut and the 9 more for short back and sides very satisfied glad I purchased

Not good for shorter hair lengths.
Using the smaller guard on the lowest setting, I ended up with patterns on my head where there were inconsistencies with the cutting height. I would only buy this is you are looking for slightly longer hair. Traditional clippers better for shorter length.
